WILD Alberta Tourism
Early in 2009, GROWTH Alberta committed a significant part of our budget to launching a tourism project for our region. Beginning in April, the alliance conducted research and solicited local feedback on the design of a regional tourism brand, and a website to help visitors plan trips to the region.
In September, 2009 GROWTH Alberta formally accepted the ‘WILD Alberta’ brand as the new tourism identity for the region. The brand is a way for tourists to easily identify our region as a destination that promises:
- to personally welcome you
- to share our outdoor adventures
- a front row experience, and
- a genuine connection to nature
Current work by GROWTH Alberta’s Tourism Committee, chaired by Woodlands County Councillor Dale Kluin, is focused on creating awareness for the brand within the region, completing the website, and preparing a marketing plan that will attract tourists from the greater Edmonton area in the 2010 summer season.
The goal for 2010 is to create significant awareness for WILD Alberta amongst travelers from the greater Edmonton region. GROWTH Alberta will participate in trade shows, host media tours, place advertisements, engage the media, utilize social marketing, and foster partnerships in order to create momentum for the region as a tourism destination.
In addition to the new brand and website launched in April, 2010, GROWTH Alberta aims to:
- facilitate networking and partnerships in our local tourism industry, and connect local tourism operators with educational opportunities in the short-term; and,
- support tourism development within our region in the long-term.
